Dear potential
supporter,
İİİİİİİİİİİ A distinctive,
important, and groundbreaking event is coming this summer.İ In August, Olympia artists and activists will
host the second annual 5-day queer underground music and film festival
called Homo a Gogo.İ In the spirit
and tradition of previous Olympia independent art and music festivals
- Ladyfest, Yoyo a Gogo and the International Pop Underground Convention
- Homo A Gogo creates a national community event specifically featuring
queer artists in a unique blend of cultural activism. With the increasing
corporatization of pride, we offer Homo a Gogo as a distinctly independent
event - dare we say a DIY "alternative?"İ
As a local community business/organization, who has been highly
supportive of the Olympia art and queer community, we invite you to
join us in making this festival a reality.İ
Slated
for August 4-8, Homo a Gogo will feature visual art, workshops, spoken
word, music and films. We are bringing films, artists, activists, and
a bit of queer history into Olympia from all over the country to perform,
present workshops, screen films and show artwork. Our list of confirmed
artists already includes: The Gossip, Team Dresch, Tracy + the Plastics,
Nomy Lamm, King Cobra, Scream Club, Tara Jane OíNeil, and Michelle Tea.
We are currently conducting a national promotions and publicity campaign
in order to reach possible festival attendees nationally. With full
pass sales and individual ticket sales we plan to bring at least 800
people to Olympia for the festival. Proceeds from Homo a Gogo will benefit
the Olympia based Gender Variant Health Project, which focuses on health
care issues for gender variant people by providing education for health
care professionals and referral/information services for gender variant
individuals. We also hope to raise enough money to administer small
grants to queer artists (The Q&A Fund) who are creating their own
live performance pieces. This
is the time to buy an ad and become a sponsor, by doing so it makes
it possible for us to broaden our publicity efforts right now, allowing
us to reach more people and bring more attendees to the festival and
to your business. In exchange for your support of Homo a Gogo your business
will receive valuable promotional opportunities, both prior to and during
our event. Depending on your sponsorship level, promotion of your business
could take the form of an ad in our program, mention on our publicity
materials or a promotion that is individually suited to your business.
In addition to sponsorship your support can take the form of an ad purchase,
financial support as well as the donation of goods and services. Please feel free to contact
us for more information about how you can support queer music, art,
film and activism by contributing to Homo a Gogo.İ
The ad deadline for our program is June 15th. Thank you, and we look forward
to talking with you. Sincerely,
